  1. i have one for my 3 month old. he sleeps in a crib next to my bed. i’ve tested it time and time again and it really does work. i have never had any false alarms, but i use it differently. i don’t put it under the thick crib mattress. i have a 1 inch pad that came from my changing table on top of the mattress w/ the censor pad under it (just to make sure the censor really does detect breathing. i think that is what prevents any false alarms. so far, so good. i’m one of those paranoid parents and need it for peace of mind. look at its reviews on the target website too, to see how many people like it.

  2. I was going to buy it but my friend had too many problems with it. She took the baby out of the crib and the alarm didn’t go off after 20 seconds. It went off a couple of times with her in the room and the baby breathing normally. Also, she had some major problems with interferance from other baby monitors. Others near to her had the same moniter and she would hear their children crying through the receptor. It’s a scary time, but I had just a regualr monitor and my child is still alive. They are just trying to get you to pay more out of fear.

  3. They are okay but one thing you should understand about SIDS, if that is what you are afraid of, is that if a baby stops breathing and it is SIDS related and not apnea then the baby is already gone. A baby that stops breathing due to SIDS cannot be resucitated so a monitor will alert you the baby is not breathing but there is nothing you can do. I had a baby die due to SIDS and we knew right away she stopped breathing and they told us at the hospital there was nothing we could have done (I started CPR right away and the EMS was there within a few minutes) and that there is no such thing as a baby almost dying of SIDS.
